Was reading on how the U.S. Government wants to abolish homosexual women and men from serving in the military. Homosexuals have only been admitted under a which basically bars an individual from expressing their sexual orientation - under the condition that they are homosexual. This is all provisioned by the "Don't ask, don't tell" policy (which seems to contradict the individual rights of freedom of speech).

While progression has been made by Congress to repeal the policy the fact remains that the law still has not been completely abolished. To do so would be a painstaking and arduous process...in other words - it'll be some time before this law is done away with. But a step forward is better than a step backward. The Congress intended for these types of endeavors to take time, there must be some contention between different executive bodies. The article is an interesting read because it sheds light on the fact that individuals must fight for their rights (no, not to party in this case unfortunately). If you want something you've got to put your ass on the line for it. Just as the African-Americans struggled with discrimination, hatred, and injustice we can see that there is a similar set of hardships other individuals must face.

While I'm not homosexual or in favor of it in anyway I want peace for everyone - I'm a pacifist. So for me this article hit dead on spot. I look forward to seeing the progress made by the people who do support his movement. How far will they take it and what will they do to get what they desire?

About me!

As taken from the "About Me" section on my user profile

About Me

According to a survey I've recently taken I'm thrown into the category of "Solid Liberal" I'm a pacifist, I don't like how we've had to resolve issues through utilizing military force to decimate the helpless, breed more hatred, and contribute to the anxious xenophobes. Yes, I'm patriotic; however, I disagree with the semi-patriotic types who favor the idea of "nuking those bastards". I just want peace for everybody. I wish the only thing that separated nations were the waters which separates us today. Let's face it, we live in a corrupt nation which has been tainted by greed and thievery. It all seems to boil down to the dollar bill at the end of the day. I'm currently taking a course in Government to earn credit for my degree. It's required I take this course..so I can't say I'm doing this willingly..but I'm already intrigued by what I've read thus far. As my view of politics is somewhat clouded right now I hope to acquire a more clear image of governmental politics and the role that I play in contributing to them. Influences? I'd say I have a variety. I'm influenced by many individuals. To name a few - Marcus Garvey and Dead Kennedy's.
